After Morning Ice, Winter Weather Advisory Canceled For Md.
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Morning commuters dealt with some icy weather Monday morning.
Freezing rain started at around 3 a.m. (1 a.m. western Md.) and continued through noon.
WJZ's First Warning Weather Team has more.
Here's a breakdown of what happened.
TIMELINE:
Early morning hours: Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect. Light rain arrives with temperatures at the ground still below freezing, so it will freeze on contact.
Between 9 a.m. and noon: Temperatures slowly rise to freezing.
After noon: We top out in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees.
This is not going to be a big storm, but any moisture that falls on frozen ground will cause ice and you don't want to mess around with that.
