Veteran Entrepreneur Training Expanding In Md.

COLUMBIA, Md. (AP) -- A program that teaches military veterans how to start a business is expanding from its Eastern Shore roots to two more Maryland counties.

The Howard County Economic Development Authority says it expects to begin a Project Opportunity program in April.

Organizers say Anne Arundel County also will start offering the 10-week program this year.

Project Opportunity was started three years ago by the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Executive Director Joe Giordano says more than 35 veterans on the Eastern Shore have received the training.

He says the Salisbury organization got $25,000 from the Wal-Mart Foundation to expand the program beyond the Eastern Shore.

Giordano says the program includes information he wishes he had been given after his 20-year Army career.
