He's 60 minutes away from the Lombardi trophy and his Ravens are in the playoffs for the fifth straight year, yes John Harbaugh has done a terrific job, but he should be fired. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying Steve Bisciotti should pink slip him today or Monday if he should happen to get spanked by his brother. What I'm saying is he should eventually be fired because that's what happens to good coaches.

Hey, we all know that bad coaches get fired, what you may not know is good coaches usually get fired and even great coaches. If history is any indication John Harbaugh should be fired, just like 7 the top 10 winningest coaches of all-time. You can look it up, the best of the best were told their services were no longer needed. That's right 7 of the top 10 on the all-time win list got the axe. This NFL coaching stuff is a tough business, sure you can make millions, have fans bow down before thee and garner power usually reserved for royalty, but in the end you will get tossed out like dirty laundry.

And that doesn't include Don Shula the winningest coach of all-time who got out before he got fired from Baltimore. Something about losing a Super Bowl to that AFL team with Namath. George Halas won 318 games, coached for 40 years and never got fired, I guess the owner of the Bears liked him. If you Google the owner of the Bears during this period I'm pretty sure it says George Halas. Tom Landry number 3 on the list, fired by the Cowboys. Curly Lambeau is 4, they named a stadium after him but he got fired.

Then we get into the Art Modell hat trick. Art fired number 5 Paul Brown, number 6 Marty Schottenheimer and Bill Belichick who's 9th on the win list. In defense of Art he had his reasons. The legendary Paul Brown wanted nothing to do with the new 34 year old owner. Brown did little after the firing, he had a losing record in Cincinnati and didn't win a playoff game. In fact from 1951 until his final season in 1975 Paul Brown coached 8 playoff games and lost all 8. Schottenheimer won 200 games but was fired by multiple teams including Cleveland. Bill Belichick has coached the Patriots to 5 Super Bowls but in his 5 years in Cleveland it was the Toilet Bowl he was a sub-par 36-44.

Add Dan Reeves and Chuck Knox to the top 10 list, yes both were fired. The only survivors are Halas who owned the team and Chuck Knoll who won 193 games and 4 Super Bowl's with the Steelers from 1969-1991. It's true head coaches are hired to be fired. Just saying John Harbaugh should be fired, Jim Harbaugh too and it when it happens they'll join the games greatest.
