Loyola (Md.) Ends Niagara Streak 89-87 In 2 OT

LEWISTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Julius Brooks beat the buzzer with a layup, and Loyola (Md.) beat Niagara 89-87 in two overtimes Saturday, ending the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference leaders' seven-game winning streak.

With 2.6 seconds left, after Niagara's Malcolm Lemmons' two free throws tied the game, Anthony Wimbush's inbounds pass found Erik Etherly at the Purple Eagles' free-throw line. Etherly flipped the ball to Brooks just left of the basket to give the Greyhounds (16-8, 8-4) the victory.

There were six lead changes in the second overtime after Niagara's Juan'ya Green's 3-pointer tied the first overtime with 9 seconds left. Green missed at the buzzer to end regulation at 66-66.

Brooks finished with 14 points. Robert Olson scored 23 for Loyola, Dylon Cormier got 15 and Wimbush had 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Green and Antoine Mason scored 23 points for Niagara (14-9, 10-2), which rallied from a 50-43 second-half deficit.
