Allegany Commissioners Adopt 5-Year Transit Plan

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) -- All day passes and online payments are being considered under a five-year transportation plan adopted by Allegany County commissioners.

Streamlining bus routes to focus on key service areas such as the Country Club Mall and Western Maryland Health System are also among the changes in the plan adopted Thursday. Other goals include increasing on-time performance and cutting costs of the system, which is highly subsidized by the state and federal government.

The Cumberland Times-News reported that increased hours and Saturday service are also being proposed if funding becomes available.
