Purple Passion Continues As Ravens Fans Flock To Buy Championship Gear

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Purple passion continues to spread throughout Baltimore. The moment the Ravens won the Super Bowl, fans were rushing out to stock up on that championship gear.

Monique Griego has more on the fan excitement.

The stores were packed with people, and everyone was wearing purple.

The Double T Diner in Perry Hall is alive with purple passion.

"We were just so excited. I knew they were going to win," said Peggy Ford.

Ford and her purpled out friends were part of a large group of Ravens fans filling up on food after an exciting but sometimes tense Super Bowl win.

"I wish they wouldn't have waited until the last two minutes to scare me to death. We just on the corner of our seats saying 'Please win!'" Ford said.

While the restaurant is always buzzing with orders and news of the day, Monday's coffee talk was all about the Ravens' wild run.

"They showed they're the best team in the world!" a fan said. "They really put themselves together. They did a good job. They represent the city."

The city is now rushing out to support its champions.

At Wild Bills in Perry Hall, the store was packed with fans all trying to snag championship apparel.

"The hot seller is definitely Super Bowl locker room official shirts," said a Wild Bills employee.

Fans have been coming in nonstop grabbing whatever they can, proving you can never have too much purple in your wardrobe.

"Very proud of my team. I love my team," one fan said.

Z Burger in White Marsh also loves its team.

The restaurant once again gave away free burgers to Ravens supporters that said the phrase "Z Champions."

"We ordered 2,000 breads, a thousand pounds of meat. We're ready to go! " an employee said.

For fans, it was a juicy way to let a Super Bowl win soak in

"They're our team. They're fantastic," said Allan Grimm, Ravens fan.

Ron Matz reports, the minute the game ended, Ravens nation was on the streets, buying that championship gear.

They lined up under the big tent.  Dan the T-shirt man is there 24/7.

"It was just crazy. We had fans here all night long. They bring us food and drinks. They've been very nice," said Dan the T-shirt man, Ravenfever.com.

If you're a Ravens fan, championship gear is a must have, and Dan has it all.

"I wanted to make sure I got up here to get myself a T-shirt. It's the greatest win I've ever seen," said Mick, of Canton.

WJZ's Fan Cam wanted to know your most memorable moment of the big game.

"When Jacoby Jones ran 108 yards and scored that touchdown without being touched," said Donna from Middle River.

"The way that Ray held up the trophy again, just like he did in 2001 when they won it," said Amanda of Chase.

"Ed Reed's interception. Everybody says he's old and he's done. But he's got some left in the tank," said Jason from White Marsh.

For Dan, the season's not over. He'll be here two more weeks.

"It's a blessing for the whole area, the restaurants, the bars, the small businesses like ourselves, and we really appreciate it," said Dan the T-shirt man.

There's an appreciation for turning Ravenstown into Titletown.

"We are the best team in the NFL. Whether people like it or not, it's bout time they accept it," said Alexander from Loch Raven.
