Sweetest Night In Town: Chocolate Affair To Benefit Baltimore's Homeless

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—It's one of the biggest events of the winter in Baltimore, and it's designed to help the city's homeless population.

Ron Matz reports Saturday night will be the sweetest night of the year at the Marriott Waterfront hotel.

It's paradise for your sweet tooth. A thousand people are expected at this year's Chocolate Affair, benefiting Health Care for the Homeless.

"It's the sweetest night in town," said Kevin Lindamood, CEO Health Care for Homeless. "Dozens of Baltimore's very best restaurants, caterers and chocolatiers will be there. Folks like Canton Cold Stone, serving up their pre-Valentine's Day best, all to benefit the work of Health Care for the Homeless."

Canton Cold Stone will be there, mixing up their famous ice cream once again.

"This is our fifth year as part of the event. When I was first introduced to Health Care for the Homeless and the work they do I knew that this was something we almost felt like we had a responsibility as a business in Baltimore City to help this great charity," said Davd Shar, Canton Cold Stone owner.

Last year's affair raised a quarter of a million dollars. The money provides services to the homeless.

"We have the audacity to believe that we can end homelessness. We do so by providing a comprehensive array of health care services and also by trying to change the public policies that create and maintain homelessness faster than we can stop it," Lindamood said.

Cold Stone created a chocolate devotion.

"We do chocolate better than anyone else, so we knew we had to be at this event and represent Cold Stone Creamery," Shar said.

Just a few tickets are left for the Chocolate Affair.

"There will be dancing, live auctions. It's a wonderful Saturday night out. Make a date of it and come on down and enjoy some of the best chocolate in town," Lindamood said.

The event is this Saturday, 6:30-10 p.m. at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront. For more information, click here.
