Howard Takes Down Maryland-Eastern Shore 63-44

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Mike Phillips scored a season-high 21 points and Tre Lee added 18 to lead Howard to a 63-44 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday.

Howard (6-18, 3-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) has won two in a row for the first time this season, beating South Carolina State 57-45 on Sunday, but had lost six of seven before beating the Hawks. Phillips also had six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Olatunji Kosile had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Kevin Mays chipped in nine points and seven rebounds for Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-18, 1-7), which has lost five in a row.

The Bison shot 41.2 percent from the field (21 of 51) to the Hawks' 26.7 percent (16 of 60), and 50 percent on 3-pointers (6 of 12) against 25 percent (3 of 12) for the Hawks. Howard made 15 of 23 from the line, Maryland-Eastern Shore 9 of 16.
