Woman Killed In Baltimore Fire; Cause Unknown

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Fire officials say a woman is dead after a house fire in the Pimlico area of Northwest Baltimore.

Firefighters were called to the home Friday afternoon. Officials say the woman's body was found in the basement area of the home.

Fire Chief Kevin Cartwright says they believe the cause of death was smoke inhalation and burns. But the state medical examiner will have to determine the official cause of death.

Police have classified the woman's death as suspicious but aren't releasing information until the medical examiner's report is complete. Police say homicide investigators were called to the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
