BLADENSBURG, Md. (AP) — Authorities have identified a 43-year-old woman who was shot and killed by Bladensburg police officers.

Prince George’s County police say Tonya Buggs was fatally shot after she brandished a knife and refused orders from the Bladensburg officers to drop the weapon.

Police say Buggs opened the door of her apartment late Friday night and was holding the knife above her head.

The officers involved have been placed on routine administrative leave.
