Man Accused In Stabbing Had Prior Record

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say a Hagerstown man accused of stabbing a teenage girl in the chest was accused of molesting the girl last year.

Police and prosecutors tell The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown that Jenerette Dixon, 38, is scheduled to appear in court next month to face those charges.

Dixon has now been charged with attempted murder and other offenses related to Saturday's stabbing. Police say the girl came out of the house with a knife stuck in her chest. Dixon was arrested after a 2 1/2-hour standoff with police.

Court records show Dixon was convicted of second-degree murder in 2003 and received a 10-year sentence.

Records show he was charged Oct. 2 with sex abuse of a minor.
