UMES Squeaks Past Coppin State 64-62 In Double Overtime

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) -- Troy Snyder scored 11 of his 22 points in overtime and Maryland-Eastern Shore held off Coppin State 64-62 in double overtime Monday.

Kevin Mays added 21 points and 12 rebounds for UMES, which led 44-42 before two Michael Murray free throws with 4 seconds left sent the game into overtime.

UMES (2-20, 2-9 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) trailed 55-51 in the first OT but Snyder hit a 3-pointer with 43 seconds left then hit 1 of 2 free throws 40 seconds later to force a second overtime.

The teams swapped buckets in the second OT but Snyder scored the Hawks' final seven points, including a jumper with 3 seconds left, to seal the win.

Olatunji Kosile grabbed 10 boards for UMES, which amassed a 44-38 rebounding advantage and outshot the Eagles 45 percent (27 of 60) to 35.8 percent (19 of 53).

Murray paced Coppin State (5-22, 2-10) with 20 points.
