Wind Project Deemed Aviation Navigation Hazard

FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) -- The developer of the proposed Fourmile Ridge wind power project says it is working to overcome objections by federal aviation officials.

Project developer Synergics says the Federal Aviation Administration has determined the 24 planned turbines in eastern Garrett County are presumed to be a hazard to air navigation. Synergics spokesman Frank Maisano told the Cumberland Times-News that the turbines pose a potential conflict with an existing but scheduled to be deactivated radar antenna.

Maisano said the developers anticipate a solution that doesn't involve moving the turbines or changing the project as proposed.
