WASHINGTON (AP) — Broadway legend Joel Grey is visiting the Smithsonian to donate items from the film “Cabaret” to the National Museum of American History.
Grey won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in “Cabaret.” The show tells the story of a nightclub entertainer and her encounters with two men set in 1930s Berlin.
On Friday, he will donate a hat worn by a gorilla in the film’s well-known musical number “If You Could See Her” to the museum. The donation and a screening of “Cabaret” will mark the film’s 40th anniversary.
The hat from the film will join other objects from Grey’s costume that he donated to the museum in 1989.
