Production Of Berger Cookies Halted Over Food License

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Bad news for Baltimore cookie fanatics.

City health officials closed the Berger Bakery late last month.

The processing plant was operating without a food license, which is required under Baltimore City Health Code.

As of Feb. 14, after an inspection, the health department has approved a food license for the bakery.

The plant just needs to pay the necessary fees and pick up the license in order to resume production of Baltimore’s most famous treat–the Berger cookie.
