GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) — Eight taxi drivers have been issued civil citations as part of an undercover police operation in Maryland.

Anne Arundel County police say the drivers were cited for violations including refusing to take a fare, failing to turn on a meter, grouping passengers for profit and trying to charge extra money.

The police sting, called Operation Correct Fare, occurred Friday morning at the Amtrak rail station in Linthicum and at the Cromwell Light Rail stop in Glen Burnie.

The police operation involved undercover officers who posed as train commuters and requested service from cab drivers.

Police say the violations were reported to the county commercial licensing division for administrative action.
