Bob Haynie: Watching The Orioles...And Loving Every Minute Of It

April 2nd can't get here fast enough.

I'm watching the Orioles take on the Yankees in Spring Training action on MASN, and the game is putting me in a very happy place.

Baseball has always been my favorite sport and for the first time in 15 years, the Baltimore Orioles are coming off a winning season. In Sarasota, manager Buck Showalter and his team are preparing to compete in what is expected to be a brutal AL East.

If the Orioles can put together an above .500 season, it will be the first time since 1996-97 that they will have posted back-to-back winning campaigns.

As I wrote about last week, not many are picking the Orioles to win their division or get back to the playoffs.

That pessimism will not deter me, however. Hope always springs eternal with this guy.

Even though the Ravens won the Super Bowl, some are sweating out the Joe Flacco free-agency watch (Not me, BTW). Some are very concerned about the Maryland men's chances of getting into the NCAA tournament (And they should be. I am).

Others are getting primed for the 2013 Major League Baseball season.

Like yours truly.

The Birds open their year on April 2nd against David Price and the tough Tampa Bay Rays.

Bring it on.
