Handful Of Flights Canceled Or Delayed At BWI

LINTHICUM, Md. (WJZ) -- Just about every form of public transportation is being affected by weather--some worse than others.

Adam May has more.

A mix of rain and sleet at BWI Marshall wasn't the reason for all the travel problems affecting countless passengers.

"You know, you look outside and it's just rain," said Tom Fox. "So you wonder why all the planes are canceled."

About a quarter of departures and arrivals were affected by heavy snow to the west.

It's been a stressful day for Alyssa Eckols.

"We're going to San Antonio to see my boyfriend graduate from the Air Force but our flights have been delayed or canceled," Eckols said.

At Baltimore's Penn Station, MARC train service was reduced because of limited ridership. Amtrak also experienced a few delays.

The earlier forecast had passengers like the Green family on edge.

"It was kinda crazy because we didn't know if the train was going to be delayed or what. Everyone's excited about the Disney cruise. We're leaving from Port Canaveral," said Lisa Green.

But their train was on time and that family is now on their way somewhere warm, sunny and wonderful.

MTA bus service and the light rail are also seeing minor delays.
