Murray, Coppin State Defeat Bethune-Cookman 69-61

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Michael Murray had 16 points, 14 rebounds and five assists as Coppin State held off Bethune-Cookman 69-61 Thursday night in the regular-season finale for both teams.

The Eagles (8-23, 5-11 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) have won three of their last four after a seven-game skid.

Trailing 63-53, the Wildcats stormed back with Kevin Dukes hitting consecutive 3-pointers in a 23-second span to trim the deficit to four with 1:05 remaining. Coppin State made 6 of 6 free throws in the final 35 seconds to seal it.

Andre Armstrong added 15 points and Collin Johnson 14 for the Eagles, who led by nine in the first half and 16 in the second.

Dukes led Bethune-Cookman (12-19, 7-9) with 18 points, hitting 4 of 12 from deep to win the MEAC 3-point title, while teammate Adrien Coleman, with 15 points, won the league scoring title. Javoris Bryant contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds.
