Sewage Flows In Md. Creek After Main Breaks

OLNEY, Md. (AP) -- The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission says sewage continues to flow into Reddy Branch Creek in Olney.

Officials said the overflow from a 16-inch force main was discovered at 11:30 a.m. Monday. On Tuesday, most of the overflow was coming from manholes near the Reddy Branch Wastewater Pumping station.

Officials say the flow rate has ranged up to 500 gallons per minute. Workers have found the pipe, but have not located the break.
