Ocean City Seeks Boardwalk Tram Sponsor Bids

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- Ocean City officials have rejected a bid by the makers of Old Bay to wrap boardwalk trams in the colors and logo of the iconic seafood seasoning.

The Town Council decided Tuesday to see how much other companies are willing to pay. The council decided at its biweekly work session to put out a nationwide request for proposals.

Public Works Director Hal Adkins told The Daily Times of Salisbury that the proposal pitched to the council by a media company representing Old Bay manufacturer McCormick & Co. would have brought the town $14,400. The one-year deal would have wrapped eight trams in the Old Bay colors.

The trams run 110 days a year along the 2.5-mile boardwalk. The beach resort attracts about eight million visitors a year.
