Dunbar Boys Beat New Town 54-52

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Daxter Miles scored 15 points and Kamau Stokes added 13, including four in a late rally, helping Dunbar to a 54-52 victory over New Town and a fourth straight Class 1A state title.

Dunbar has 15 state championships, the most for any team in any class. The Poets also beat New Town in last year's title game.

Dunbar (26-2) led most of the way Saturday before New Town (23-4) rallied. The Titans chipped away and took a 50-48 lead on Justin Brown's three-point play with 2:39 left.

Stokes tied it 13 seconds later and gave the Poets the lead on a soft jumper.

Keandre Gibson (13 points) completed a 6-0 run on two free throws with 54.8 seconds left.

Free throws hurt the Titans as they made 13 of 35.
