WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP/WJZ) — Police in Westminster are investigating a fatal shooting that appears to be an accident.
Police were called to a home on South Hills Court on Saturday morning. They found Vygants Tomas Campe, 46, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Campe was transported by EMS to Shock Trauma, where he died during surgery.
Investigators say the victim was visiting the home and lying on the couch at the time of the shooting. Upstairs, the home owner was apparently handling a pistol on the second floor when it discharged. Police say it appears a bullet passed through the floor and struck the victim on the floor below.
No charges have been filed in the case. An investigation is ongoing.
