Maryland Soldier Among 5 Killed In Afghanistan Helicopter Crash

ELDERSBURG, Md. (WJZ) — A Maryland soldier is among the five dead after a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

Captain Sara Knutson died Monday in Kandahar.

The 27-year-old Eldersburg native is the first Marylander killed in Afghanistan this year.

NATO reports the Black Hawk crashed earlier this week and says there was no enemy activity in the area at the time.

The Pentagon says the incident is still under investigation.
