ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) –  Former Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold is now in jail, but he’s facing more court challenges from his time in office.

A judge ruled Monday that part of a lawsuit filed by former county employee Joan Harris will stand.

Leopold’s attorneys were trying to dismiss the suit, but the judge says there is sufficient evidence to show he fired her in retaliation.

She says she lost her job after Leopold discovered she provided information to the attorney of another employee suing him.

The judge did throw out several of Harris’ other claims, including that Leopold violated her freedom of speech rights.
