Woman Dies In Mount Airy House Fire

MOUNT AIRY, Md. (AP) — A woman has died in a house fire in Mount Airy.

The woman died Sunday evening.

The fire on Moxton Drive was reported just before 7 p.m.  Officials say it was small and quickly extinguished. 

Officials did not identify the victim who was found in an upstairs bedroom. Her body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy and positive identification. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

There were working smoke alarms in the home. Damage is estimated at $30,000.
