Charity Employee Sentenced In $166,000 Theft

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A former employee of a nonprofit that served the intellectually disabled has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for stealing more than $166,000 from the organization and its clients.

Penny Parker Green, 34, of Bowie was also ordered to pay restitution to the ARC of Prince George's County at sentencing Monday.

According to her plea agreement, Green used her ARC corporate credit card for personal expenses and directed other employees to withdraw cash from group home residents' bank accounts for her personal use.

Prosecutors say Green spent the money on electronics, a trip to Aruba and to have custom closets installed in her home.
