MVA Demolition Will Make Room For Mondawmin Mall Expansions

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Mondawmin Mall announced plans to undergo a 38,000 square foot redevelopment, adding three new retailers to its line-up.

The demolition of the former MVA building will make way for the construction of a new 25,000-square-foot Ross Dress for Less, a 10,000 square foot Deal$ and a 2,500-square-feet yet-to-be named retailer.

"Mondawmin Mall has been an integral part of the Greater Mondawmin community for more than 50 years. Our goal is to not only provide the best retail center possible, but to also offer services that make the surrounding area a desirable place to live and work," said Romaine Smallwood-Smoot, general manager of Mondawmin Mall.

In 2008, Mondawmin Mall underwent a 225,000-square-foot expansion and complete renovation of the existing 360,000 square feet of common areas, restaurants and shops. The mall's multi-million dollar redevelopment introduced Baltimore City's only Target location, as well as an upgraded Park & Ride and new shopping opportunities.
