President Of Baltimore Council To Honor Passover
BALTIMORE (AP) -- The president of the Baltimore City Council is marking the arrival of the Jewish holiday Passover.
Bernard C. "Jack" Young is scheduled to participate Monday in a ceremonial burning of the leavened foods that Jews are prohibited to eat during the eight-day holiday, which begins at sundown Monday.
The event is scheduled for Monday morning at the club house parking lot of the Pimlico Race Course. It'll be overseen by the city fire department.
Young will join with a housing assistance group and members of Baltimore's Jewish community. They'll also be collecting nonperishable items to be donated to a local food pantry.
