300 Attend Salisbury Gun Control Town Hall Meeting

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- More than 300 people turned out in Salisbury for a town hall meeting on gun control legislation.

Rep. Andy Harris told the crowd at the meeting Monday that he opposes any more restrictions on gun ownership because many states do not prosecute people for lying on firearm applications. Harris was joined by Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis, Wicomico County State's Attorney Matt Maciarello, Delegate Mike McDermott and several other law enforcement officials.

The rally was held as gun control legislation passed by Maryland's Senate awaits consideration by the House of Delegates. A mother's group, meanwhile, has scheduled a rally Tuesday in Annapolis in support of the gun control bill.
