Glenn Younes: QB Sacker Falls Into Ravens Lap

While there is no doubt the Ravens have a plan with their defensive overhaul, the addition of Elvis Dumervil was part luck and part preparation.

Yes, the Ravens brass made cap room with several "not so fan friendly" moves that included trading away Boldin, cutting Pollard and not offering future Hall of Famer Ed Reed even a remotely competitive contract offer.

That said they made those moves to spark the change they needed and give salary cap wiggle room needed, for what... they didn't know at the time. Then add in the catastrophic level 10 mistake by Elvis Dumervil's agent and or the Broncos (depending on who you believe) and Elvis ended up leaving that building and entering the one in Owings Mills.

Was Elvis available when all those moves were made by Baltimore? NO.

Was Elvis the root and reason for the moves? NO.

But the cap availability and flexibility is the reason the Ravens landed one of the best pass rushers in the league. Change is inevitable even if its forced change and I rather be lucky than good.

The Ravens are seemingly both.
