Jason Hammel Talks About Possibility Of Being Opening Day Starter

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Jason Hammel joins The Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn discuss the Orioles upcoming season. Jason talks about the possibility of being the opening day starter, Jason views it as an honor to be able to have the chance of starting the season on the right foot. Hammel also touches on the knee injury that cut his season short last season. Jason talks about spring training and his approach to it being a veteran. When asked about taking the leadership role in the pitching rotation and being the ace, Jason responded with;

"Maybe you don't have an ace label on somebody. But I think honestly your ace of the staff is the pitcher you have pitching that night."

Jason talks about how having so many pitchers battling for the fifth starter role is a great problem to have, pitching depth, as we saw last year, can be key to a run. We also get Jason's take on the two top pitching prospects Dylan Bundy and Kevin Gausman.  Jason told us he likes pitching against the Ray , the club who let him go.

"It's not that they didn't appreciate what I brought to the table, but it's almost like they didn't appreciate what I brought to the table."
