Suspicious Fires In Washington County Rise To 19

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- State fire officials are investigating five more suspicious fires in Washington County.

The announcement Thursday by the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office brings to 19 the number of fires under investigation since March 17.

The agency says the fires have caused more than $130,000 worth of damage.

The most serious of the new cases is a barn fire Wednesday night in the Boonsboro area that caused $50,000 worth of damage.

Other blazes have occurred in motor vehicles, a garage and trash containers. All occurred during the late night or early morning hours.
