Maryland Basketball Head Coach Mark Turgeon Talks Terps

Maryland Men's Basketball head coach Mark Turgeon joined Ed & Bob to talk Terps basketball. Maryland is 25-12 on the season and is currently in the semi-finals of the NIT Tournament. The Terps will take on Iowa on Tuesday April 2, 2013 at 9 p.m.

Bob asked Turgeon if the win his team earned in Alabama was a game they would have won a month ago. Coach said that they probably wouldn't have won that game a month ago and pointed back to the Virginia game where his team held a late lead and fell short in the end.

Ed asked if the NIT success has made up for being left out of the big dance. Turgeon said that his team didn't do enough to warrant an NCAA tournament bid, but he is proud of the direction this team is taking. He said they deserve to be where they are in the NIT tournament and that its been a lot of fun.

Bob wanted to know what coach thought of Jake Layman's evolution throughout this season. Turgeon told the guys that Jake is one of the most improved players he has ever coached in a season. He said that Layman has been very successful since the team moved to more a small lineup.

With Iowa coming up next on the schedule Bob asked coach about them. Coach said that he hasn't studied Iowa very much, but he knows they have been hot lately in winning 10 of their last 12 games. He noted that they played a 10 man rotation and have quite a bit of talent.
