Orioles Fans Are Excited For The New Season Ahead

BALTIMORE (WJZ)— The Orioles started their 2013 season Tuesday afternoon by taking on the Tampa Rays in Florida, and fans in Baltimore couldn't be more excited.

Jessica Kartalija has more on the fans rallying for the team in Charm City.

At Camden Yards, they're getting ready to play ball!

"We are doing everything in our power to make it look the best that we could," an Orioles grounds crew member said. "Everyone is working really hard just to get everything together."

At Dempsey's Brew Pub,  doors are open to O's fans.  Audrey Felts has been bartending at Dempsey's since it opened.

"I am really excited for Friday," she said. "I started last year when we first opened and so I know all the excitement that is to come. I know that there's going to be even more excitement because everyone is still on a rush from last year."

Fans are ready for the O's to take the field Tuesday but even more excited to see the team play before a sold-out crowd at Friday's home opener.

"Everybody's been 'Did you see what happened last night? Did you see what happened yesterday?' People are excited about baseball again, and I am excited about it too," said Boog Powell, Orioles great.

"Growing up in Baltimore, this is my city, my team, my stadium and whenever the stadium is full, there's a little more energy and it's a little more special to be in there when there's a full crowd," said Ryan Wagner, Orioles announcer.

O's fans know what the team is capable of and have high hopes for the season.

"Very excited because they're my favorite baseball team," said Sam Fenton, Orioles fan. "They're going to win on Friday."

Many fans are thinking positively. It seems the excitement has not calmed down since the O's made the playoffs last season.
