Newspaper Demands Information On College Chief's Ouster

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick News-Post is alleging in a lawsuit that Frederick Community College is illegally withholding information about the ouster of the school's president.

The newspaper reports that it filed the claim Monday in Frederick County Circuit Court.

It seeks a court order requiring the school to release settlement information regarding the departure in January of former president Frederico Talley.

Talley left in January after six months on the job. He and school officials have said his departure reflected differences in vision and philosophy.

The school's Board of Trustees has maintained that any other information about Talley's departure is part of a confidential personnel file that is exempt from disclosure under the state's Public Information Act.

A college spokesman says it wouldn't be prudent to comment on pending litigation.
