GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WJZ) — Anne Arundel County Police are investigating a report of an attempted robbery at a Glen Burnie restaurant.

Officers responded to Mikie’s restaurant in the 1200-block of Crain Highway North just after 6:15 a.m. Wednesday.

They learned a male suspect, who was armed with a gun, entered the business and confronted an employee. That employee began to fight the suspect. He took the suspect’s gun during the struggle and struck him repeatedly with it.

The suspect then fled the restaurant empty-handed and headed south on Crain Highway.

The weapon was left at the scene.

Officers searched the area, but could not find the suspect.

The investigation continues.
