Sewer Pipe Fails, Wastewater Spills Into Md. Creek

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Anne Arundel County public works officials say nearly 14,000 gallons of wastewater has spilled into Weems Creek in Annapolis.

Officials say crews responded to the leak, caused by the failure of a corroded 14-inch sewer pipe, about 8 a.m. Wednesday. It was stopped shortly after noon.

The Capital of Annapolis reports that health and environmental officials were notified. Residents will not be advised to avoid contact with the creek.
