Chesapeake College Hosts Commercial Fishing Forum
EASTON, Md. (AP) -- Chesapeake College will host a symposium on the economic impact of the commercial fishing industry.
The symposium is scheduled Thursday at the college's Wye Mills campus. The event is being held by the Chesapeake Bay Commercial Fishermen's Association and Comptroller Peter Franchot's office.
Association President Gabby Dean says he hopes the symposium will illustrate the cultural heritage of Maryland's commercial fishing industry, which he says has been overlooked at times.
Dean told The Star Democrat of Easton that the impact of the industry is widespread, ranging from restaurants to marinas to box companies and other businesses that supply watermen and the seafood industry.
