Frederick Begins Installing Bike Racks

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The city of Frederick has begun installing bike racks along its Market Street corridor.

The Frederick News-Post reports officials are installing a total of 25 bike racks. Each rack can each hold two bicycles.

Members of the nonprofit Downtown Frederick Partnership and others donated the racks. The organization's executive director Kara Norman says in the past most riders used trees to secure their bicycles, but that's not good for the trees.

City transportation planner Tim Davis says the first bike racks were being used the same day they were installed.
