Police say Marion and a 13-year-old girl were struck when they were walking with a third teenager on the narrow shoulder next to the westbound lane of Mountain Road about 9:25 p.m. Police say an SUV traveling west hit the two teenagers, then continued west on Mountain Road.

Authorities describe the SUY as a 1997-2002 Ford Expedition. It sustained suffered damage to the passenger side headlight and turn light assembly, which was broken out, and should have damage to the hood and passenger side front quarter panel.

In a statement, Anne Arundel County Public Schools said, "Skylar was a ninth-grader at Chesapeake High School. The school has been working with the family to provide as much support as possible since learning of the accident Friday night.

Chesapeake counselors were available today to talk with students and staff who had a need to discuss their feelings. There will be a team of additional counselors at the school tomorrow to assist students and staff again. Counselors will be available for as long as needed."
