Man Injured In Crash After Eluding Police

LIBERTYTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Maryland state police say a Pennsylvania man driving on a revoked license caused a crash that injured himself and two others while trying to elude officers.

Police also say James L. Myers II, 27, of Biglerville tried to run down a Frederick County sheriff's deputy and sideswiped a state trooper.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday in Libertytown. Police say Myers struck a car with his pickup truck. He was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Two people in the car suffered minor injuries.

Police say Myers started trying to elude capture after being stopped by a Taneytown police officer for expired tags. Police did not pursue Myers but tracked him with a helicopter and deployed stop sticks.

Myers was charged Friday with three counts of first-degree assault.
