2 Men Sentenced For Illegal Striper Catch
NORFOLK, Va. (AP) -- A Virginia Beach charter fishing operator and a Maryland man have been sentenced for illegally fishing striped bass.
The government says 41-year-old Jeffery S. Adams of Hudgins of Virginia's Mathews County and 41-year-old David Dwayne Scott of Maryland's Calvert County were sentenced Thursday on charges related to the taking of 19 striped bass in waters off limits to striper fishing. Both men entered guilty pleas in January in Norfolk federal court.
Adams was sentenced to 180 days of home confinement and three years' probation. Adams Fishing Adventures Inc. also was put on probation and its vessels will be required to maintain electronic monitoring units.
Scott was sentenced for trafficking in the illegally caught fish. He was sentenced to three years' probation, fined $5,600 and ordered to pay $1,900 in restitution.
