The top team in the Eastern Conference started their run to the Stanley Cup in dominating fashion in a 5-0 win over the Islanders. Pascal Dupuis led the way for the Penguins scoring twice while Marc-Andre Fluery registered his 6TH career playoff shutout. Game 2 is Friday night.

In a matchup of the “Original 6” the Boston Bruins beat the Maple Leafs 4-1. Boston has recently dominated the series between the two teams amassing a 21-4-3 record over the last 28 games against Toronto. In the Maple Leafs return to the postseason they only had 20 shots on goal.

The Sharks fell behind in the second period to the Canucks, but then rallied for 3 unanswered goals to take Game 1 in Vancouver 3-1. Vancouver became the first team of this postseason to lose a game on home ice.

On tap for tonight the Senators and Canadiens open up their 7 game series in Montreal. For the 4TH time in 5 years the Rangers and Caps but heads in the postseason, a game you can hear on our sister station CBS Radio 1300. The defending champs try to avoid a 0-2 hole as they take the ice against St. Louis, and former Caps Coach Bruce Boudreau leads his Anaheim Ducks against the Detroit Red Wings in Game 2 of their series.
