COLUMBIA, Md. (WJZ/AP) — Howard County Police are investigating the homicide of a woman who was found in a car in Columbia Saturday morning. She had been shot multiple times.

Police received a 911 call around 9 a.m. from a person who reported seeing a woman who appeared to be injured in a car parked in the 9600-block of Basket Ring Road.

Police arrived and found the woman in a Toyota Corolla in the parking lot. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives believe they have identified the victim, but they will not release her name until next of kin has been notified. Investigators believe the woman, 47, had recently moved to the area and was living in the apartments near where she was found.

A motive is unknown at this time.

Authorities are offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information in the case.
