No 4th Trial For Man In Deaths Of 3 Relatives

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A man convicted of conspiracy in the slayings of three young relatives won't be retried a fourth time on murder charges.

Policarpio Espinoza Perez was sentenced last month to life in prison on conspiracy charges, but the judge said he would be eligible for parole in 10 to 12 years.

The Daily Record of Baltimore reports Baltimore City State's Attorney Gregg L. Bernstein's office said Tuesday it will not seek a fourth trial.

Espinoza Perez was convicted last month in the 2004 slayings of his brother's two children and their young cousin. The children, ages 8, 9 and 10, were beaten with a bat and almost decapitated with a long knife.

The judge declared a mistrial on a first-degree murder charge.
