Police Investigate Fatal Metrobus Crash In Md.
SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision involving a Metrobus.
Police say the bus was picking up passengers at a bus stop at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Olney-Sandy Spring Road late Wednesday night. As the bus was pulling away, a pedestrian fell under the bus and was struck.
Investigators say 50-year-old Ronald Maurice Johnson of Brookeville was taken to Suburban Hospital. It was thought that he had non-life-threatening injuries. But his condition worsened overnight. Police say Johnson died early Thursday morning.
Police identified the driver as 54-year-old Anthony Whitaker of Silver Spring.
An investigation continues as to what caused the collision.
