Baltimore Man Pleads Guilty To Beating Cat, Placing It In A Dumpster

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A Baltimore man has pleaded guilty to beating a cat with a metal pole and placing it in a dumpster.

A witness saw 52-year-old Anthony Brown striking a cat in the face and head with a pole in the 4900 block of York Road.

He then saw a trail of blood from Brown's apartment to a nearby dumpster, where he found the injured animal and called for help.

Baltimore Police Department and Animal Control rescued the cat and took it to Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS).

The cat was treated for trauma to the head and eye and made a full recovery.

Brown pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and received the maximum 90-day prison sentence, with all but 45 days suspended and 18 months of supervised probation.

Brown was ordered to pay for the full expense of treating the cat at BARCS.

He is also prohibited from having a pet while on probation.
