Reporting Gigi Barnett
OCEAN CITY, Md. (WJZ) — If you’re spending your Memorial Day weekend in Ocean City there’s a good chance you’ll hit this Boardwalk hotspot.
Gigi Barnett has more on a delicious treat that is hard to resist.
At the end of the long drive to Ocean City, a boardwalk filled with good eats beckons.
First off is Thrasher’s French Fries for Troy Elser and his son, Landon.
“You’ve got to have Thrasher’s fries when you’re at the beach, right?” Troy said to his son.
For first-time Ocean City visitors, Boardwalk food isn’t exactly the healthiest.
“In Israel, you do have fast food but it’s a little bit healthier,” said Ilai Elimelech.
For repeat visitors, there’s a method to losing the calories that come with the holiday weekend.
“Walk the boardwalk. Burn ‘em off,” said Kelly Dawkins.
During the off season, stores like Thrasher’s are only open on the weekend, but this holiday weekend, business kicks into full gear, sometimes closing as late as 10 p.m.
“Ocean City is open. We’re strong, we’re ready for business. Everything you enjoyed in the past, you’re going to enjoy in 2013—and more,” said Mayor Rick Meehan.
That kicks the summer off with a full stomach.
There are more than 100 restaurants on the Ocean City Boardwalk.
