Teen Dies In Apparent Drowning At Rocky Gorge Reservoir

LAUREL, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say a 15-year-old boy was found dead in an apparent drowning at a Laurel reservoir.

Officials say the boy left a family gathering at Scott's Cove along the Rocky Gorge Reservoir on Monday and he was heard calling for help around 4 p.m.

Dozens of rescue workers searched for the boy for hours before his body was pulled from the water. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission says swimming is not permitted in the reservoir and patrols will be increased to deter swimmers.

Mary Bubala will bring you more on this story at 5 & 6 p.m.
